Artist Statement

The interaction of people, effects of light, and colors created are my guiding elements when creating a painting. My works all aim to capture a moment and express the intimacy of human interaction within nature, like someone in the background of a photograph unaware of their gestures being captured. The effect that light has on a subject and its surroundings also inspires my pieces; what it can create as it subtly touches a face or harshly casts a shadow. This and the colors within nature inform my work and what I seek to capture on a canvas.
